We know how crucial a role families play in supporting students at Regent’s and we are delighted to welcome them as part of our community.

Like many Colleges in Oxford, Regent’s has a Formal Hall dinner every Friday during term time. All students are encouraged to dine and once a term, students are able to invite two family members to attend. This special evening includes pre-dinner drinks with the College Principal and Tutors as well as coffee afterwards. To ensure that all of our students are able to take part in this special evening the Family Formal is open to a different year group per term: Freshers in Michaelmas Term, Finalists in Hilary Term and second year students in Trinity Term. Guests are asked to dress smartly for dinner which includes a jacket and tie and no jeans or trainers.

As well as an annual dinner in Hall, families of final year students are also welcome to Regent’s Valedictory service on the Final Saturday of Trinity Term. The Valedictory Service was created to say farewell to all the students leaving College or completing a degree that summer.  During the service which is held in the Helwys Hall in the afternoon, the Principal gives a short report of the year, the outgoing Junior Common Room president gives a brief speech on behalf of his/her year group and all the leaving students present are invited to sign the College Register.  Refreshments are then served in the Quad.

For both of these events, students need to book places for their guests, so do make sure you let your Regent’s student know you would like to attend!

The Development Office also keeps in touch with alumni and friends of Regent’s through our our annual Regent’s Now publication, so if you would like to receive this, please contact the Development Officer, Dr Matthew Mills: matthew.mills@regents.ox.ac.uk
