08 Feb Anne Boleyn’s Legacy to Elizabeth I: The Iconography of Protestant Queenship
On Friday 12th February at 5pm, Dr Helen Hackett (University College London) will give a talk entitled: ‘Anne Boleyn’s Legacy to Elizabeth I: Neoclassicism and the Iconography of Protestant Queenship’. Dr Hackett specialises in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century prose fiction, and her wide ranging publications include: A Short History of English Renaissance Drama (London, 2012), Shakespeare and Elizabeth: The Meeting of Two Myths (Princeton, 2009), Women and Romance Fiction in the English Renaissance (Cambridge, 2000) and Virgin Mother, Maiden Queen: Elizabeth I and the Cult of the Virgin Mary (Basingstoke, 1995). The event will take place in the Collier Room and admission is free. All welcome.
