College-based training

A number of students train for ministry on a more traditional college-based course. As well as sharing the Pastoral & Mission Studies course shared with all ministerial students, these students often study the BTh degree, or sometimes the MTh or another appropriate course.

College-based students generally move to Oxford (with their families where appropriate) or can commute from a sensible distance on a weekly basis (generally spending three or four days of each week in Oxford). Being in Oxford allows them to take full advantage of the opportunities afforded by being art of the college community – social and sporting, cultural and – well, all sorts! The college has accommodation on site and nearby, or can offer advice on making your own arrangements if preferred.

College-based students have a placement during their first two years in a local church working alongside a minister, and then in their third year work on a hospital Chaplaincy placement to broaden their experience of ministry, and get many opportunities to lead worship and preach in churches locally.

There is so much you can get involved with; I'd never rowed before I came to Regent's and now I am on the University team.
