Finding the Right Words: Conversation featuring Mo Yan

Nobel Prize-winning novelist, Mo Yan, will be with Yu Hua and Su Tong in conversation with Boyd Tonkin.

Public event, celebrating Regent’s Park College, Oxford, awarding an Honorary Fellowship to the Nobel Laureate for Literature, Professor Mo Yan.

Mo Yan – Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 2012. His works include ‘Red Sorghum’, ‘The Garlic Ballads’ and ‘Life and Death are Wearing Me Out’.

Yu Hua – One of China’s best-known novelists. His novels include ‘To Live’, ‘Brothers’ and ‘Chronicle of a Blood Merchant’. He was regarded as a promising avant-garde or post-New Wave writer.

Su Tong – Su Tong is a bestselling author who attained international recognition in 1993 when Zhang Yimou’s film of his novella ‘Raise the Red Lantern’ was nominated for an Academy Award.

Boyd Tonkin – Boyd Tonkin is a writer, journalist and critic who chaired the judging panel of the Man Booker International Prize in 2016 and is now Special Adviser to the Man Booker International Prize. Former literary editor of The Independent. He is a long-time proponent of foreign-language literature and is the author of ‘The 100 Best Novels in Translation’.
