Dr Richard Lawes

Lecturer in English

Richard is a medical doctor. He is the Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders for the county of Berkshire and also the Consultant Psychiatrist to Oxford University Counselling Service. At Regent’s, he is Non-Stipendiary Lecturer in English.

 

Richard did his medical degree at Edinburgh University Medical School and his English degree and Doctorate at Oxford University (Magdalen). He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and in the past has been Junior Research Fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge University, and Senior Tutor and Tutorial Fellow in English at Greyfriars Hall, Oxford.

 

Research Interests:
Renaissance autobiography; applying modern psychological theory to late medieval and renaissance texts; English literature under Mary Tudor; Early Tudor religious texts.


Teaching Areas:
Renaissance literature; Early Tudor literature; psychological literary theory.
