John Kinahan works on freedom of religion and belief (FoRB) and related matters, with a particular focus on Central Asia, Belarus, the South Caucasus, Russia, and government-held and Russian-occupied Ukraine. He is a member of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Advisory Panel of Experts on Freedom of Religion or Belief, and the OSCE ODIHR Advisory Board on Freedom of Religion or Belief and Security.
