Christine Joynes becomes new Director of the Centre for Baptist Studies

Date: 6/09/2019

We are delighted to announce a new Tutorial Fellow and Director of the Centre for Baptist Studies: Christine Joynes, Departmental Lecturer in New Testament at Oxford.

Dr Joynes currently combines research into the interpretation of the New Testament – including in art, music and literature – with the directorship of the Centre for the Reception History of the Bible.  Her experience as the coordinator of a research centre means that Dr Joynes is ideally placed to launch our own new Centre for Baptist Studies, which she will do alongside directing undergraduate studies in Theology and Religion.

The aim of the Centre for Baptist Studies will be to build on the College’s strong tradition of work in the fields of Baptist History and Heritage, not least by encouraging scholarly engagement with our world-leading Angus Library and Archive.

Dr Joynes says: ‘I am delighted to be joining Regent’s Park College and directing its new Centre for Baptist Studies. This is an exciting time of change for the College, and I am very much looking forward to finding new ways to promote Baptist research in the UK and to sharing the wonderful resources of the Angus Library.’

Dr Joynes will take up her new role on 1 October 2019.
