Celebrating excellence: Regent’s Dr Katrin Wilhelm’s ‘Lab in Your Pocket’ initiative recognised with two prestigious awards!

Date: 25/11/2024

We are excited to spotlight the achievements of Dr Katrin Wilhelm, Tutor in Geography at Regent’s, a key leader in the Lab in Your Pocket (LIYP) initiative, which has recently been recognised with two prestigious awards for its outstanding contributions to heritage education and innovation.

Led by Dr Wilhelm (School of Geography and the Environment and Department of Psychiatry) and Prof Kathryn Eccles (Oxford Internet Institute), LIYP has received the TDEP Award for its ground-breaking use of mobile technology in heritage education. This innovative project enhances digital and environmental literacy, enabling students to explore Oxford as a ‘living lab’ while addressing environmental and heritage challenges through experiential learning.

This year, LIYP teamed up with the Heritage Pathway Programme, led by Alice Purkiss and Dr Rachel Delman (Humanities Division), and together were honoured at the Vice Chancellor’s Awards 2024.

This flagship programme equips students with critical skills in heritage research, co-production, and professional collaboration, offering transformative learning experiences that bridge historic values with contemporary challenges.

The collaboration between LIYP and the Heritage Pathway highlights the transformative potential of combining digital innovation with traditional academic disciplines, redefining how students engage with heritage in a rapidly evolving world. These achievements underscore the power of partnership in shaping sustainable, innovative, and interdisciplinary approaches to education.

Congratulations Katrin, on the key role you have played in providing students with the opportunities that LIYP offers and on the fantastic achievement of a VC Award!
