Regent’s is delighted to celebrate a year of record-breaking academic results, with over 94% of finalists achieving a First or Upper Second-class degree in 2025/26.

Of the College’s 35 finalists, 10 achieved Firsts and 23 achieved Upper Seconds, meaning that 33 students – 94.3% of the cohort – graduated with a First or 2:1.

The results represent a substantial improvement in the College’s overall academic performance. Regent’s Norrington Score rose from 66.73 in 2024/25 to 70.29 in 2025/26. This is also the first year in a standard examination season in which Regent’s has achieved a Norrington Score above 70.

There was further success in the First Public Examinations, where students achieved 11 Distinctions and 23 Passes. The proportion of Distinctions was above the long-term average across the University.

Individual students also received a number of University and Faculty prizes. Niall McCormack was awarded the University’s J. C. A. Meldrum Fieldwork Prize – Environmental Theme for his fieldtrip report, while Rose Webster received the Gibbs Prize for the best dissertation in Theology & Religion. Among the College’s postgraduate students, Guy Rose (BCL) received the Law Faculty Prize in Trade Marks and Brands, and Heng Hsu (MSc Law and Finance) was awarded the Law Faculty Prize for Best Case Study.

“These are results in which the whole College can take considerable pride. They reflect the hard work of our students and the outstanding contribution made by our Fellows, lecturers, tutors, Study Skills Tutor and welfare team.

“Over the past few years we have deliberately increased our investment in welfare and academic support, with a greater emphasis on identifying difficulties early and helping students remain successfully engaged with their studies.

“To see more than 94% of our finalists achieve a First or 2:1, alongside such strong Prelims results and a substantial improvement in our Norrington Score, is enormously encouraging.”
