Shelley-Mills Essay Prize

Date: 30/05/2023

The College is very pleased that Jonathan Honnor, Finalist at Regent’s, has been co-awarded the 2022–23 Shelley-Mills Prize, for an essay on ‘The First Folio 400th Anniversary’.

“This is the second time Jonathan has won such a prize: in his first year he was awarded the Chancellor’s Prize for a study of bringing cliché to life. This time his subject is the four hundredth anniversary of the publication of Shakespeare’s First Folio. Jonathan views the Shakespeare edition in the light of Ben Jonson’s Collected Works of plays and poems published just seven years earlier in 1616, the year of Shakespeare’s death.  Jonathan’s is an astonishing achievement, one of which the College is justly proud.”
