Art Beyond Border Initiative (ABBI) – Concert and Launch Event
Date: 5/02/2025

A huge shoutout to current Regent’s student and DPhil in Ethnomusicology candidate, Bette Zhaoyi Yan and her Art Beyond Border Initiative (ABBI) which launched at the beginning of this year!
ABBI is a platform dedicated to fostering inclusive art communication and distribution across the globe. Guided by the belief that art, culture and music should transcend boundaries, ABBI aims to introduce lesser-known art forms to promote deeper cultural and intellectual understanding through a series of concerts, talks, lecture-recitals, and conferences.
A special concert and launch event for ABBI will take place on Friday 7 February, 6.30pm at the Hollywell Music Room, Faculty of Music. There will be a traditional Chinese instrument ensemble; a Chinese soprano-piano duo performing Chinese art songs from traditional and contemporary poems; two sopranos from South Asia performing Indian Ragas; Singaporean contemporary music pieces and more. Bette will even be performing five art songs herself! You can book tickets here.
Over time, ABBI aims to grow into a broader cultural platform incorporating indigenous visual arts and multimedia collaborations, reflecting the philosophy: ‘Art Beyond Borders; Futures Without Frames.’
