Oxford-BNU Creative Writing Award 2025 – Regent’s own So Yin Dilys Tam is shortlisted!

Date: 8/05/2025

We are delighted to share that the shortlist for the Oxford-BNU Creative Writing Award 2025 has been released, and Regent’s own postgraduate student, So Yin Dilys Tam., has been shortlisted for the short story The Story of a Sign.

The Award is a collaboration between the University of Oxford and Beijing Normal University and showcases outstanding emerging writers from Oxford, celebrating their exceptional talent and creativity. The winner and two runners-up will be announced at the Annual Lecture and Award Ceremony on Friday 23 May.

This year, there will be an ‘in conversation’ event with Professor Lisa Appignanesi, OBE, FRSL – one of today’s most compelling voices on culture, history and the mind. A prize-winning author of Mad, Bad and Sad and Losing the Dead, Lisa offers profound insight into the complexities of emotion, memory, and identity. As former Chair of the Royal Society of Literature, English PEN, and the International Man Booker Prize, she has shaped major conversations around freedom of expression and the arts.

If you’d like to attend the Annual Lecture and support Dilys at the Ceremony, you can register to attend here.

Huge congratulations, Dilys, and good luck!
