Ed is a sociologist of higher education. He is interested in admissions, transitions and teaching in higher education through the lens of class and disadvantage, particularly at selective and ‘elite’ institutions. He is passionate about translating the class study of higher education spaces into useful teaching practices, and believes academic skills work is a crucial part of the jigsaw of working towards more equitable teaching provision at Oxford.
He completed his DPhil in Education at the University of Oxford, and also holds an MA in Sociology of Education from University College London, and a BA in Politics, Psychology and Sociology from the University of Cambridge.
