Oxford Prospects Programmes (OPP) at Regent’s Park College is a collaboration sponsored by Regent’s Park and Shanghai MEC which works to promote education exchanges between institutions of higher education in China and the UK.
Oxford Prospects Programme is the study abroad initiative of Oxford Prospects and Global Development Institute, dedicated to promoting international academic exchange—primarily between Oxford and higher education institutions globally. Our aim is to facilitate dialogue and inspire new ideas among students, scholars, and distinguished figures – including academics, policy makers and industrial leaders – on pressing contemporary issues in the context of globalisation. We organise and host these discussions online and face-to-face through courses, lectures, conferences and events featuring world-renowned speakers and leading figures from universities in the UK and across the globe.
Other activities have included:
- Visits by overseas academics, organising lectures and meetings in Oxford (e.g. university visits by the President of Tongji University, the Deputy Director General of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission office, and a cultural forum during President Xi Jinping’s 2015 state visit to the UK).
- OPP short programmes in Oxford for top Chinese university students, university counselling and pastoral staff, clinical staff and others.
- Facilitating applications for the one-year registered visiting studentships from Chinese universities.
- Facilitating exchange visits overseas by academics and students from Oxford University and elsewhere (e.g. a choir visit from Jesus College Oxford to universities in Shanghai and the Looking China programme).
The Director of OPP is Dr Shidong Wang, who works closely with the Academic Advisor from Regent’s Park College, Dr Lynn Robson.
